Background

Network reliability is essential for ensuring seamless connectivity as telecommunications services become increasingly critical for daily activities. However, maintaining a high level of reliability remains a challenge, particularly as networks expand and user demands evolve.

Challenges

As a UI/UX engineer, I was challenged to design a tool within a closed platform that needed to be fast and accessible, especially in anomaly situations (e.g., network outages, fiber cuts, sudden traffic urge on important events), while maintaining data integrity and reliability.

Approach

• Secondary research and stakeholder interview.

• List down all possible scenarios and necessary task in the features using jobs to be done framework.

• Evaluate design and interaction with end user, Head of Digital Transformation, and customers to make sures design output are answering pain points and aligned with business goals.

• Pilot testing in a controlled environment before production deployment, along with real-time error tracking in daily operations and anomaly situations.

Result

Based on the whole design process, we developed an intuitive and easy service tools for our users to understand, making network analysis more efficient than the existing solution. The design implementation has received positive feedback and recognition as a pioneering new capability application from Huawei Global (China), along with VP level customer appreciation for improving their network operations.
